Starting Out Green 20260220
We make it back to the ship for nap times.
Put together some footage of the liberation of the city, focussing on Buzzsaw’s crew and the alliance in general, showing that they’re the ones responsible for Iziz. Get it uploaded to the ‘net to spread the good word.
Put in a call to command, let em know we’re “free”.
Head over to the university in the morning. Willie’s running casual clothes, Zarlo’s disguised himself.
Stop off at reception for directions, they’re surprisingly forthcoming. He’s not got any classes on at the moment.
Give em Willie’s name. Thanks Maggie.
Uh oh, it sounds almost like they’re expecting us, KD says the line “I have a bad feeling about this”.
There are some slamming doors and running feet, KD and Willie take the back way round, whether to cut off an escape or ambush what’s waiting for us is unclear.
Zarlo and Rimer find the office empty, but there are signs of recent activity (spinning chair etc). Zarlo’s having a nose/more thorough check.
Willie and KD are outside, don’t spot anyone running though. No one’s acting suss. Willie questions some onlookers, no one’s seen anything.
KD take a moment to look the guy up on the local net/space linkedin, so at least we know who we’re looking for now. Basically Einstein plus big beard, there are a couple of lookalikees too.
Rimer’s running up the stairs in the direction of the footsteps they heard earlier. Hears a door closing on the fourth floor, continues up the stairs.
Zarlo’s scanning the room for any useful docs, or anything that looks it was meant to be hidden. Amongst the papers and general detritus he finds a wall safe hidden behind a picture. Closes the door, carefully goes for the safe.
Finds some decoders/translation docs related to Sith writings, puts everything back the way it was, but pockets the useful stuff.
KD crew is staying outside in case he makes it out. They release the recon Drone to keep an eye on the other side of the building.
Rimer catches sight of the runner, but he’s making for the central stairs, catches another door closing.
KD heads towards the main entrance (where the runner’s apparently heading). Brace for clothesline.

Zarlo’s got his thermal goggles out, but there are too many signals within the building to make out anything useful.
Rimer continues his pursuit. Busts through a door, spots our guy hiding behind a plant, very out of breath. Attempts to give em the nice greeting, guy keels over though, possible heart attack. Rimer gets his medical gear out and goes in for the save.
Fortunately it’s not that bad, the guy manages to get some pills out of his pocket before dropping them all over the floor. Rimer helps him out, passes a drink, gets the medicine in him etc. Takes a minute to get this breath back. Wonders why we were chasing him.
Turns out he was scared of the “Imperial” droid that was coming for him. Rimer passes it off, KD’s “less Imperial”, points out the Empire’s a little xenophobic so HE wouldn’t be working with them, which seems to calm him down. After some more consoling/explaining, he invites Rimer back to the office.
Zarlo heads to the roof to secure the perimeter. Gets a good view of the grounds/general neighbourhood. Willie’s covering the main entrance, no shenanigans from either.
Heading back to the office, KD tries to be reassuring, but can tell he’s freaking the guy out, so heads off to secure the perimeter.
Nalle was concerned the Empire was going to scoop him up.
University professor - Vinon Nalle
Rimer explains how we found the tablets as a “religious experience”, and on to the writings of the tablets, explains the library, finding the business card. Plonks one of the tablets down, this guy is SOLD.
He confirms it’s from an ancient religion, mumbo jumbo about “ways of the force”. The writings pertain to the darker religion, NOT the Jedi. But he’s aware we shouldn’t be talking about Them at all. Rimer’s playing it off, Zarlo’s trying to be reassuring, but might be worse at it than KD. We’re definitely not ISB, if we were we would’ve taken him already.
Nalle agrees to translate them, and might know a collector, but not in the city. Could have them done by the end of the day.
Rimer suggests a trip to the diner for the translation work, but the library wins out. We’ll stop off some takeaway en route instead.
Talk of payment and making copies comes up. We’re concerned, given what we’ve deciphered so far. Nalle is reassuring about the potential danger though. It’s agreed that copies can be donated to the university archives in exchange for the translation work.
Their archives have more info on the religion/philosophy, so we might get a look later. Lets slip that most of the information about the lighter side of the religion has been purged by the empire, but he will get back to us If he digs up anything useful. .
Rimer goes into more deets about the temple/relics on Dxun, the darkness that was there, the light that came into effect etc. Niall gets to work on the translation.
KD’s finds the Star Wars equivalent of “how to make friends and influence people” and starts reading it.
Willie and Zarlo are keeping an eye out. They have a little chat about the sister situation, some gentle bonding. Zarlo joined the rebellion FOR her, rather than the cause. He’s been looking her for a long time. He’s only telling Willie this because he can shoot him later (joking?). Willie highlights that he’s good at not being found.
Zarlo wasn’t expecting to find her like this. He’s trying to come to terms with what he’s done on his path, and mulling over what comes next. Hasn’t been cause to look back for a while. There are some handshakes and reassurances.
Willie delves into some of his past, Imperial Labour camps, some lost credits. He doesn’t think anyone’s still looking for him. There was a lost shipment of credits, and the ship, which still had money owed on it. The Empire busted the operation he was part of. There could be people thinking that Willie ratted them out, even though he did time for it.
He owed (owes?) money to some nasty people, was working for them to pay it off. Zarlo warns him to keep it close to his chest, Willie is already WELL aware of this. Obvs still a bit paranoid though, hence the constant face covering.
The Translation is Complete
“Fascinating”
Personal-scale weapon, rather than a doomsday device. Translates as instructions for making a lightsaber (We get there eventually).
Rimer has flashbacks to childhood tales of the Jedi. They were mythical, a bit like we’d see King Arthur and similar. Heroes of the clone wars. Chivalry, code of honour etc. Reminds him also of the Tapani, and their light foils, honour duels etc.
Nalle warns that the instructions include corrupting a crystal. This is not a nice thing to do (death, blood, etc involved).
Rimer knows that the light side zealots also used these weapons, and they didn’t kill children. Ahem.

The Tepani weapons might be more mechanical, rather than the more mystical/atuned weapons of the force-users.
Niall doesn’t want anyone to see the bits about atuning, but would like copies of the rest of it for his archives. They get copies without the atuning parts, and the location of the temple on Dxun (not the one on Onderon), and we get the actual translations.

Further discussion will be required over deciding on the selling the actual tablets, but we can keep in touch.
We swing by Peg’s for more takeout (Gav wanted some bringing back). Peg lets slip that more of the business owners are disgruntled with Black Sun, praised the video we released earlier, and will spread the word.
We pick up some parts to build one of these weapons and head back to base.
Gav’s happy with his food, and has that transmission for us.
Before that though, a quick word with one of the Durasted villages around expanding the town/accepting refugees. They’re open to it.
The Mission Briefing:
After Yavin 4, the Empire is clamping down on a Hyper route. They want us to hit a detention centre , liberate some rebels, surveil a city on Trivar 2. Glare Peak. We’re to meet up with the local rebel cell, and go from there.
Planet’s snowy, no more jungle! Cold weather gear will be supplied, the delivery is en route, we need to decide what else will be in there.
We’ll take our ship, so will have access to that, and whatever we load up.
10XP, 5 duty each.
