KD Progression Options

Think I’ve narrowed it down to Droid Tech vs Martial Artist. One of them is more combat orientated, the other not so much (but still provides combat benefits).

Martial Artist lets KD wreck shit in combat to a greater extent. More defence, more soak, more critical hits, and (the real juice) the ability to choose what those critical injuries are.

Droid tech makes him better at fixing things (with a focus on droids). A rank in deft maker means I can churn out mono task drones for 300cr each, load em up with combat directives (or program them to help with navigation, repairs, healing, whatever) and further wreck shit. Get some bonus strain threshold which’ll be handy for when I’m using dodge/defensive stance etc a lot in combat too. Then WAY down the tree, there’s “Reroute Processors”, so in a fight I can lose a point of Intellect and drop it into Brawn for the encounter (or the other way around if doing something brainy).

With enough time/XP would probably do both anyway. Leaning towards Droid Tech first, for that full on Murderbot fantasy. I’m also concerned KD’s outshining the rest of the party in combat as it is, so there’s a risk he becomes too powerful for combat encounters to remain balanced, where enemies don’t nuke the rest of group without KD just stomping them all into bloody smears.

Droid Tech would still provide some combat advantages, and there are still a few talents to pickup in Gadgeteer I could grab to boost that too.
